“Aquascopen” Official contribution to Zurich Design Weeks 2025 /Landmark

“Aquascopen” reveals the hidden world beneath the water’s surface – directly from the shore, without getting wet. The swiveling and tilting underwater optics were designed for lakes or rivers to open up new perspectives below the waterline, similar to telescopes at mountain stations. New deposits have been created for the idyllic pond at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, which can be explored and identified.

A glance beneath the surface of the water reveals familiar sights that appear both distant and alien. The installation plays with perception and recognition – and with the moment when both shift. Originally developed to showcase small animals, plants, sediments, and invasive species such as quagga mussels, the museum pond now allows you to discover everyday objects and items from the museum’s design collection.
“Aquascopen” creates a sensory approach to the underwater world – for curious minds, learners, and observers of all ages.
