Robert Wettstein had been searching for Erika Schläpfer-Thöne’s SAFFA chair for a long time.
The SAFFA (Swiss Exhibition for Women’s Work) in 1958 was an important national exhibition that showcased the creativity and design skills of women in architecture, design, and crafts.
The chair was considered lost and was only documented in historical photographs.
Now Robert has succeeded in tracking down one of these rare specimens—albeit with a non-original seat cushion. The story of the discovery, collection, and careful return of this special piece is told in a longer video.
